WHAT WE DO

TRAINING
BELIEVE, WORK HARD, ACHIEVE
Training is at the centre of what we do. We offer high quality training for the next generation of dancers and provide technique and performance opportunities for those wishing to maintain and continue their training. We are known for stretching and challenging our dancers, whatever their level. Our ethos is to nurture and guide each and every individual by creating a professional, hardworking and disciplined environment which comes from the motivation of the participants and passion and experience of our teachers all of whom have industry experience and hold BA (Hons) Degrees and teaching qualifications. Many of our dancers have gone on to prestigious training providers such as LABAN, Northern Contemporary Dance School, London Contemporary Dance School, Laines, LIPA, Masters and Middlesex and Edgehill Universities.

COMMUNITY
COMMUNITY BRINGS US CLOSER
Our local community is very important to us. We have a growing number of classes for all ages, level and abilities based at our home in the heart of Worcester. We also offer specialised classes and workshops for:

YOUTH DANCE
FIND YOUR VOICE
We invest in our young people as we know that they are the future. We do this by helping them to empower themselves by finding their voice through knowledge, training and expression. The company has an established and successful youth dance programme. We train our dancers in contemporary and ballet technique, as well as working with professional dancers and choreographers to create topical work for public viewing locally and nationally.
Formed in September 2014, Translucent Youth Dance Company have hosted Summit a regional youth dance platform as well as performing at festivals all over the country including Put Your Foot Down (Birmingham International Dance Festival), Worcestershire Dancing and (Bromsgrove Artrix), Jump Start (Milton Keynes), Kidderminster Arts Festival, and MY Dance from which we qualified for the U Dance Nationals two years running (Nottingham/London).

EDUCATION

Undergraduate and Post Graduate Programmes
We deliver a range of workshops at this level all over the UK. These can be one off or ongoing sessions tailored to your needs.

High Schools, 6th Forms and Colleges - Level 2 and 3
We deliver affordable, challenging and engaging dance workshops and residencies to schools and colleges throughout Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Shropshire. We have a number of workshops suitable for all levels of learners. Delivered by our team of professional dancers who have vast amounts of teaching experience.
Technique and Repertoire – Students will participate in a technique session with company dancers/choreographers and then learn repertoire from current touring work.
Contact Work – Students will learn how to give and take weight safely by the end of the session the dancers will have learnt a duet tailored to their individual level.
Dance in a Day an intensive day of dance whereby the students feel what it is like to be a professional contemporary dancer. Work with company dancers to create and learn a dance which can be used for school shows and productions.
Performance - Experience what it is like to be a company dancer, work with company choreographer Anna Lines to create a performance piece over a period of time that suits you.

Primary and Middle Schools - Key Stage 1 and 2
We deliver engaging and inspiring dance sessions to schools throughout Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Shropshire.
We offer one hour after school sessions. These sessions can be delivered as a one off or on a weekly basis for a half term or term.
During school hours we offer topic based dance. Sessions will focus on animals and environments under threat, Natural Disasters caused by climate change and Sustainability. These sessions develop physical and technical skills in dance, as well as encouraging creativity, musicality and communication skills whilst offering opportunities for evaluation and self reflection. These can be booked as a block of between 4 and 6 sessions.
We also provide "Dance in a Day" sessions. These work perfectly during arts or activity weeks or to provide dances for school shows and productions.
